To avoid personal injury and property damages, tanks and sensitive system parts into which flames can blow in or out have to be protected through flame arresters.
Flame arrester is an independent protective system fitted to the opening of enclosure, or to the connecting pipe work of a system of enclosures and whose intended function is to allow flow but prevent the transmission of flame.
Autonomous protection systems must be tested through a notified body (3rd party approval) to EN ISO 16852. Only ATEX certified flame arresters have to be installed.
Flammer is offering a wide range of ATEX certified flame arresters:
-
End of line Deflagration Flame Arrester:
Flame arrester that is fitted with one pipe connection only.
-
Inline Deflagration Flame Arrester:
Flame arrester installed in a pipe – both sides are connected.
Inline deflagration flame arresters installed in case of flame propagation at subsonic velocity.
-
Inline Detonation Flame Arresters:
Flame arrester installed in a pipe – both sides are connected.
Inline detonation flame arresters installed in case of flame propagation at supersonic velocity.
-
Inline and End of Line Liquid Product Detonation Flame Arrester:
Inline and end of line liquid product detonation flame arresters prevents light-back at deflagration and stable detonation of potentially explosive vapor-air, and or gas-air mixtures in a pipe located upstream of the ignition source.
Flame propagation is stopped through the actual used liquid.
It is not always possible to use a standard flame arrester. Apart from economic aspects, it can also be due to the installation space and/or the technical boundary conditions.
